Nordic Red D-dimer is a latex immunoassay intended for the quantitative determination of D-dimer in human plasma. Red D-dimer is designed for instruments with optical channels in the wavelength range 650 – 800 nm. Most larger coagulation analyzers, as well as practical all biochemistry analyzers, have these higher wavelengths and can run Red D-dimer.
Using a high wavelength for D-dimer testing is best. At lower wavelengths, common interfering substances in blood plasma (usually hemoglobin, lipids or bilirubin) can cause more problems. This is one reason why Red D-dimer is better than most of the competing products on the market.
